The Community Arts Training (CAT) Institute at the St. Louis Regional Arts Commission (RAC) presents a conference that will cultivate innovative strategies in community cultural development.

This conference brings together a cross-section of artists, community partners and leaders in a platform for critical dialogue about arts and community development.

Consisting of presentations of new scholarship, workshops, and discussions, At the Crossroads: A Community Arts and Development Convening connects and engages people working in diverse practices, inspiring new ideas and creative collaborations in communities.

At the Crossroads: A Community Arts and Development Convening is facilitated by the Community Arts Training (CAT) Institute at the Regional Arts Commission in St. Louis and is generously sponsored by the Nathan Cummings Foundation. Since 1997, the Community Arts Training (CAT) Institute is an innovative program centered on the belief that art has the power to be an agent for social change. The CAT Institute is a five-month curriculum fostering successful partnerships among artists, social workers, educators and community activists with the goal of creating relevant arts programs in community settings such as neighborhood organizations, social service agencies and after-school programs.

About 165 Community Arts Training (CAT) Institute graduates are currently working in areas such as neighborhood organizations, at-risk schools, prisons, homeless shelters, hospices, labor unions, community centers, jobs programs, and daycare facilities. With dedication, creativity and resolute spirit, these artists, community activists, social service workers, educators and administrators are a force in the St. Louis area equipped with powerful tools to foster transformation in individuals and in our community.

"All Hands on Deck: The Artists of Thirteen Squared" Gallery Talk

Join the exhibition's curators and artists for a discussion about the current show, which presents the work of Thirteen Squared, a visual collaborative comprised of thirteen St. Louis-based female artists.

"All Hands on Deck: The Artists of Thirteen Squared" Exhibition Opening

All Hands on Deck presents the work of Thirteen Squared, a visual collaborative comprised of thirteen award-winning St. Louis-based artists.  Now in their fifth collaboration, the women organize exhibitions with sales to assist local arts organizations.  Inspired by a deck of playing cards, each artist was dealt four cards from which they created four unique artworks now on display in All Hands on Deck.

Also that night will be Celebrate, Again! 2010, a charity art sale featuring 125 works donated by local women artists, all priced at $50.

American International Choral Festival coming to St. Louis
