Description:
The first monument to be erected in St. Louis County depicts a bronze figure of Dr. Edmund Babler, a well known Missouri physician and surgeon for whom Babler State park was named. Jacob and Henry Babler, the doctor's brothers, donated the land for the park and commissioned Keck to carve the monument.
A noted New York sculptor, Keck studied at the National Academy of Design, the Art Student's League, and in Europe. He was a member of the National Sculpture Society, and was the winner of a gold medal in 1926 from the Architectural League of New York.
