Community Arts Training (CAT) Institute

Founded in 1997, the Community Learning Institute of Arts (CLOI) is an intensive cross-sector training program for artists of all disciplines and community activists of all kinds with 225 graduates.

The goals are to create and maintain strong community-based arts-based programs that strengthen the voice of under-resourced communities; restore and connect communities; and create significant funds for positive change.

KPP Institute is an innovative program based on the belief that art can be a force for social change: For sixteen years, as the oldest continuous educational institution of its kind in the country, KPP Institute of Arts has been implementing a rigorous, months-long program to prepare artists of all disciplines and their community partners to collaborate in creating and maintaining meaningful arts programs, primarily in low-income communities such as neighborhoods.
