General Audiences

The Starlight Gallery presents the photography of Ray Marklin. Opening reception February 21st, 4;30-7:00 PM. The artist will give a brief presentation at approx. 5:30 PM.

City of Saint Louis photographer Ray Marklin is well-known throughout this region for his far ranging travels where he has photographed such beautiful lands as Russia, Myanmar, Viet Nam, Cambodia, Tibet, and most recently, and the subject of our exhibition, Rajasthan, India.

Marklin’s gift is to illuminate the sense of place in his exotic locales, yet to interpret them through a lens of familiarity that draws his viewers into the picture through the smile of a child, the wizened countenance of an elder, a beautiful sunset across an ancient fortress, or an open air market full of colorful fruits and fresh vegetables. The magic of Marklin’s photography allows us to recognize the familiar as seen in the people and art of Rajasthan.
