After going to opening night of Deborah Zoe Laufer's Sirens at The New Jewish Theatre, I couldn't stop singing "Rose Adelle, Rose Adelle."  This comedic play running a little under 90 minutes is filled with music, some funny and amusing, some beautiful and hypnotizing. 

Sirens is the sweet tale of a songwriter trying to remember the lyrics to a song he wrote for a lover long ago.  However, the love song this married man is trying to remember is one he wrote for a woman other than his wife.  After 25 years of marriage, Sam has lost passion for his wife, Rose Adelle.  It takes a few of life's lessons including a near death experience to teach Sam to appreciate what he has with Rose Adelle. 

The small cast of four is just enough to entertain the audience.  The gifted actress Leah Berry plays three roles, and in my opinion, does each one brilliantly.  My favorite role of hers is Siren of the Mediterranean Sea who lures men to their deaths by singing.  Berry's strong voice carries across the sea of the theatre so beautifully it is no wonder men are enchanted by it.
